Board
Members Information & Feedback Night – Thursday 6th September at 6:30pm

The Board would like to invite all members to an Information and Feedback evening on Thursday 6th September at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.  Some light refreshments will be served from arrival. The Board will give an update on the new membership structure and how it is working, and also an update on the Strategic Planning process that the Board is working on for the Club.  It will also be an opportunity for members to give feedback and ask questions.

Greens Renovations – Update
The cold snap across this past week has slowed our recovery process, but we are still on track for a healthy coverage of grass on all of our greens.  It means that the greens will be a little slower for a few more days (this weekend), as we try to promote the grass growth before regular mowing.  The sprinkle of rain we are getting across the weekend should help our situation too.

Ball Credits – changing from 1st September
A reminder that the new prize credit system will start from Saturday 1st September.  It means that instead of looking up pages of rundown sheets in the Pro Shop to see if you won a prize/ball, you will be able to look it up online at home through the website.  A question and answer sheet will be placed on the website in the coming week to answer any questions you may have.

New R & A Rules of Golf – arriving in 2019
The new rule books will be available by October, but will not come into play until January 2019.  We will be displaying a range of videos and flyers as a lead up to the new rules so that all members are aware of the changes – a lot of them are common sense and some members are probably inadvertently doing them already!  There are changes to the terminology used for areas such as “Hazards” and the way they come into play will also dramatically change.  Keep an eye out on the website and noticeboards for information on the new Rules of Golf.

Muirfield Cup – 8th & 15th September
Congratulations to all the members who have qualified for the Muirfield Cup.  Tony Kitto has agreed to Manage the Wearne Team, but the Newton Team is still in search of a Team Manager – if you would like to offer your services across the two dates, then please contact General Manager Cameron in the office.  The Wearne Team has dominated the past couple of years, but a change is on the horizon!!

Timing of Players – Wednesday & Saturday
The official books for timing players has ceased, but we ask that all players remain aware of their pace of play as we help to ensure that all members enjoy their round, in good time.

Junior Clinics
A reminder that there is one more Junior Clinic for August and it is scheduled for Sunday 26th August.  See the Pro Shop for details.

B & C Grade Pennants – Warren & Gibson
The teams are back home this weekend and want to finish the season with a solid win.  Tee off from 11am.

Ladies Charity Day for Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI)
Many thanks for those people supporting the Ladies Charity Day in aid of The Children’s Medical Research Institute, which will be happening this coming Tuesday 28th August.
Special thanks to those members who have been buying raffle tickets and cakes from the ladies on Mondays.
Raffle tickets can still be purchased at the bar, 3 for $5.  There are 11 prizes to be won, including one week’s accommodation at Nelson Bay, Hampers full of goodies, Vouchers from Specsavers and Jimmy’s Restaurant, movie tickets and some very beautiful framed drawings of horses by a young talented artist.  Your Lamington orders can be picked up on Tuesday after 1pm too.

Ladies Golf Day – Tuesday 21st Aug

On Tuesday, Muirfield hosted Ladies from Cumberland and Ryde-Parramatta Golf Clubs due to their course renovations.  It was a very successful Mexican Ambrose event with 132 in the field and a shot gun start from 8am

Peter & Dean in the Pro shop did a great job in getting the field off to a good start, and Sam & Lisa in the bar were welcoming in serving everyone hot coffee and drinks at the bar when the field came in.  Our new Caterers coped well with the rush at lunch and provide a delicious array of food.

We heard so many compliments from our visitors and lady members, and the Committee would like to thank everyone who helped on the day.

JP services – available within the club
There may be times when you need a Justice of the Peace to witness the signature of documents – if you ever get stuck for finding one at short notice, then we have some qualified people in the club who are happy to offer their services.  Contact the office for details.

Ozemail.com Users
If any members are currently using ozemail.com as their email address, please be aware that there are some ongoing issues between their provider (iiNet) and the club’s provider (Telstra), so your emails may not come through to the club.  If you have sent an email to the club from an ozemail address, and have not received a reply, please check that we have received it.  The issue is intermittent but ongoing and we thank you for your patience.

Monday 24th September – Change of Program for Sydney Vets Golf Day
The Sydney Veterans are holding an event at Muirfield on Monday 24th September.  This means that the normal Monday competition will be cancelled for this day.  The Vets will have a timesheet that runs from 8am-10am on both tees and any Muirfield Members who want to play on that day, please enter through the Sydney Vets, if eligible, otherwise social play for members will be on offer from after 12:30pm
