Members Information & Feedback Night
The Board would like to invite all members to an Information and Feedback evening on Thursday 6th September at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.  Some light refreshments will be served from arrival. The Board will give an update on the new membership structure and how it is working, and also an update on the Strategic Planning process that the Board is working on for the Club.  It will also be an opportunity for members to give feedback and ask questions.

Golf Course

Greens Renovations – Update
The continued cold snap across this past week has again slowed our recovery process, but the difference from last week to this week is quite strong and players will notice healthier (and faster) greens, as they are now able to be cut and rolled.  The expected rain in the coming week will help the greens as well as the rest of the course.

Match

Ball Credits – changing from 1st September
A reminder that the new prize credit system will start from Saturday 1st September.  It means that instead of looking up pages of rundown sheets in the Pro Shop to see if you won a prize/ball, you will be able to look it up online at home through the website.  If you have existing golf balls and want to trade them, then please return them to the Pro Shop before 15th September.  After that date, the office will be able to swap them for a credit onto your ball account, subject to the ball having a logo and being in good condition.

New R & A Rules of Golf – arriving in 2019
The new rule books will be available in October, but will not come into play until January 2019.  There are many and varied changes, so keep an eye out for them.

Muirfield Cup – 8th & 15th September
Congratulations to all the members who have qualified for the Muirfield Cup on the 8th & 15th September. The shirt presentation for both teams will take place on Friday 7th September, just before the members 6pm timesheet draw.

Ladies Silver Salver and Bronze Bowl

Jenny Doherty won the Silver Salver this week with a score of 83.

In the Bronze Bowl Jenny Benjamin and Yi Ran Kim were tied on 98.   After a tight playoff lasting 5 holes, Jenny Benjamin was declared the winner.

Premier League
The Grand Final of the Premier League was held last week and the winners were the defending Champions, The Wanderers!  They had a classy win against favourites The Letter Writers, but proved too strong to take the title for the second year in a row.

Netting around the 4th tee
The Netting around the 4th Tee area will be repaired on Monday 4th September – players are asked to be mindful of any machinery and workers in the area on that day.

Junior Clinics
The Junior Clinic dates for September are Sunday 9th and Sunday 23rd for a 12.30 pm start, bookings via the Pro Shop.

Super Senior Pennants
The Super Senior Pennant team has started their season with a solid Half (against Cumberland) and a Win (against Oatlands) – the top two teams – even with a couple of key players out or injured!  A bye this week for our players sees the other teams playing at Muirfield.  Good luck to our team for the rest of the season.

B & C Grade Pennants – Warren & Gibson
The teams had a mixed round last week with the Warren team winning 3/0, but the Gibson team narrowly falling short.  There is a week off for Father’s Day and then the final round.  A win against Cammeray in that final round will see the Warren Team make the playoffs.

Monday 24th September – Change of Program for Sydney Vets Golf Day
The Sydney Veterans are holding an event at Muirfield on Monday 24th September.  This means that the normal Monday competition will be cancelled for this day.  The Vets will have a timesheet that runs from 8am-10am on both tees and any Muirfield Members who want to play on that day, please enter through the Sydney Vets, if eligible, otherwise social play for members will be on offer from after 12:30pm

If any members are currently using ozemail.com as their email address, please be aware that there are some ongoing issues between their provider (iiNet) and the club’s provider (Telstra), so your emails may not come through to the club.  If you have sent an email to the club from an ozemail address, and have not received a reply, please check that we have received it.  The issue is intermittent but ongoing and we thank you for your patience.

Happy Father’s Day
To all the Fathers (and Grandfathers) in the club, we wish you a very Happy Father’s Day on Sunday 2nd September.  If you are looking for a place to bring your Dad for Lunch or Dinner, the Restaurant at the club is providing a special Father’s Day menu to help you celebrate.  Jimmy’s is still going strong and taking bookings now!
