Junior members,

Acting on feedback from the Junior Members, please be advised that a few changes are being implemented with respect to Muirfield’s Junior Program.

  1. Change to Sunday clinic start times
From Sunday December 9th throughout the Summer/Daylight Saving period we will be moving the clinic start time back to 1:00pm. This change is to allow those junior members wanting to play on the course to also attend the clinic for skills tuition and then move to the course from 2.30 PM.

The previous arrangement meant that it was either/or with respect to skills tuition or on course play which was detrimental to overall skill development. This change will also provide an additional opportunity for those juniors wishing to submits cards towards their GA handicap.

Please note that you must be a member of the club to progress to on course play.

2.  Junior Fun Day
In lieu of the planned clinic for Sunday December 23rd we would like to stage an end of year fun day for all our junior members, their families and care givers.

The plan is to play a 6-9 hole Ambrose event (So parents/care givers can play with their children) on the Tyro course from 1:00pm followed by light refreshments and snacks in the clubhouse.  To keep it fun for all, adults and anyone with a GA handicap of 27 or less will be limited to using irons from the Tyro tees.

If you would like to join us on the day please reply  by return e-mail to either myself or the pro shop.

  1. Jack Newton Junior Golf Week of Golf
The fantastic junior tournament is on again from January 7 to 11, 2019. The final round will be hosted by Muirfield GC and is a great way to gain some experience in tournament style play.
The event is open to all juniors 17 years and younger with a GA handicap.  Please see the JNJG web site for course details and entry details.

Any Muirfield junior who enters this tournament representing Muirfield GC for the full 5 days will have their entry fee reimbursed by the club and the will be provided with a Muirfield GC polo shirt to wear during the competition. Please contact me re details for claiming back your entry fee and obtaining your polo.

  2. GA Handicap
The junior committee is looking to emphasise the gaining of a GA handicap over the next period of time to qualify as many juniors as possible to compete in upcoming junior tournaments, junior club competitions and in the usual open club competitions held during the week and on weekends.

So, if you are a Junior club member without a GA handicap please contact one of the junior committee members (in the cc line) so we can organise some qualifying rounds for you.

Hope to see as many of you who can make it on December 23rd.

Regards
Rick Frankcombe
