Course Survey & Feedback
A huge thank you to the 230 members who filled in the member survey. The response has been tremendous. While the survey is closed, we always encourage feedback on the golf course or club. Email any comments or concerns through to the office or General Manager.
The Course Advisory Committee (CAC), chaired by Vice-Captain Alex Molesworth, will be compiling all the survey responses and member feedback with a view to passing it all onto a course architect when the time comes. This process is purely gathering information in preparation for development options which may lie ahead. A reminder that the Committee is just compiling the information and that any future course designs or changes will be professionally handled by qualified course architects.
New Work – 8th Hole
The new work around the 8th green has been completed and has grown in. There is a 30cm preferred lie in place and is marked by white lines/stakes.
Amitee 2019 – Welcome
Muirfield is hosting the Amitee reciprocal visit across the weekend of 8th -10th March. We look forward to a fantastic weekend and welcoming our interstate guests.
As we start our Amitee weekend, we must thank all who contributed in helping to make it possible. A special thankyou to the 24 volunteers who donated more of their time last Monday to assist Peter Watts and his staff present Muirfield as best as possible for our members and AMITEE visitors. Your efforts are much appreciated.
The volunteers work every second Monday from 8am until midday followed by a BBQ. Their next work day is Monday 18 March when they will assist with the six monthly greens renovations.
Prize Vouchers, Dollars and Balls
There has been some confusion about the member prize accounts, so here is a refresher on Vouchers, ball credits and dollar prizes.
Every member has 3 club prize accounts that you can view on the website – please note that these are totally separate from the pro shop account that you may have set up with the pro shop staff.
Balls – Balls can be claimed at the Proshop or at the office if they are on your account. If you collect a ball at the presentations and then decide you don’t want to have it, then you can return it to the office and it will be placed back onto your ball account.
Dollar Prizes – these are for Winning a competition. This can be used in three ways
1. Pro shop – simply see the pro shop to buy what you want.
- Bar (House Account) – see the office and they will give you a voucher to present to the bar to top up your house account. It does not expire on your House Account.
- Restaurant – simply see the office for a voucher and present it at the restaurant when paying your bill. If the voucher isn’t enough payment, then simply pay the difference by cash/credit card. If the voucher is too much, then the Restaurant staff will take the voucher and write the balance on it. This voucher then gets submitted to the office by the caterer and the balance will be placed back onto your account – this process may take 7-10 days due to the contractual arrangements surrounding payments between the caterer and the club.
Vouchers – this is the Superpin and it can only be spent in the Pro Shop.
ALL Balls, Dollar Prizes and Vouchers expire 6 months after they are won. Dollars moved onto the House account do not expire. Any balls, dollars or vouchers that are transferred onto the separate Pro Shop account is covered under the Golf Professional’s criteria surrounding his accounts.
Men’s Major Pennants Update
The team were disappointed to be defeated at Lakeside on Sunday in a match much closer than the final score. Through 11 holes, the match was evenly poised, each side leading 3 matches with the 7th all square. As often occurs, the home side rallied down the stretch with support from their members to win the match 6-1.
Congratulations to Aaron Maitland and James Howe (reserve) who both won on the day. This week, the team travel to New Brighton, who won on the weekend and are equal on overall points with Muirfield. The first match tees off at 11.30am, any members who can get out to support would be very welcome.
Ladies Grade Pennants Update
The Ladies Grade season has started with the team getting a win this week against Castle Hill 3 / 2, at Long Reef GC. Congratulations to the ladies and all the best for the rounds to come.
Clubhouse Maintenance Works
The clubhouse maintenance is continuing for a couple more weeks, with the painting of the building being the main project. No matter what development options may take place over the coming years, various aspects of the current clubhouse will need attention every year. The club is committed to providing quality facilities that are well kept and presented to the Muirfield standard.
Juniors
- Junior Clinics

- Junior League
Last Sunday our Juniors had another great win against Cumberland at Cumberland. Edi Sachsen and Yusuf Tajudeen had a 6-3 win, Justin Hadi and Harry Sherman were narrowly beaten 4-5 and Josh Burgess and Jake Madgwuck won their game 5-4. So all up it was a team win 15-12. The team play their final round at Stonecutters this Sunday. We wish them well.
